3rd Annual Valentine's Day Murder Ballad Celebration

I actually thought we wouldn't have to do our annual exercise of bitter alienation. We have showed a marked improvement. We had a pretty good year and I think the set list reflects that. Couple of angels showed me kindness and warmth this year and I didn't push too many folks away. A better than I've had in years, but overall, the price was still too damn high.

Just had a dust up with the ex earlier in the week that had me feeling bluer than a beagle that was too old to run. Like Libba Cotton says, she was "telling lies on me". Real body blow when it gets back to you that you're a deadbeat dad when you bust your ass to make sure those words never cross a living soul's, or your own mind let somebodies lips. Just a sucker punch on account that I'm paying, strike that WAS paying, 30% on top of what I am legally obligated to pay. The wiggling starts leveraging them kids against my desires to see them and my blues gets a little hot. Thus... murder ballads.  Sooths the soul of a good man being treated bad.

The archive didn't post, so it may be lost. Can't say I'm too upset at that, by song four it felt like I had an apple stuck in my throat, and I abandoned script and I put my heart on the mic.

Sincerely hope I don't see you next year. The labors of being a good man in this cruel world is kicking my ass and I've grown weary. Will my work be over soon mama? I need rest.

Here's some YouTube videos to give you a mini-experience. The set list follows them each linked to a YouTube video.

Here's all 38 cuts in a big YouTube Playlist. Hit play and sit back. Shit is awesome.
